For over 100 years George Gilmour has been synonymous with excellence in metal fabrication. Originally serving the Clyde shipbuilding industry, but for the last 50 years the construction industry, Gilmour has progressed from producing the first aluminium long length gutters in the early 50s (now an industry standard) to become the foremost manufacturer of metal façade systems in the UK.
Joined by Ecometal the well known insulated panel manufacturer in 1993, Gilmour-Ecometal now specialise in high quality aluminium façade systems in both Insulated Composite Panels and Rainscreen. Gilmour-Ecometal has the only fully integrated plant in the UK with CAD/CAM metal fabrication, powder coating, and insulation bonding facilities. Our in house powder coating plant Powderbond is Syntha Pulvin approved and offers a 25 year guarantee on most applications. Powderbonds pre-treatment baths can accommodate 12 metre long fabrications sheets and extrusions. We work primarily with aluminium but also fabricate galvanised and coated steel, stainless steel, copper, zinc, and indeed within the year 2000 were the first company in the United Kingdom to fabricate Titanium cladding.
The Glasgow Science Centre is the first building in the UK and only the second in Europe after the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao Spain to be clad in Titanium.
